纽卡斯尔大学(Newcastle University)，简称"纽大""NCL"，是位于英国英格兰"八大核心城市"之一的纽卡斯尔市的一所公立综合类大学，罗素集团成员，以及N8大学联盟、欧洲大学协会、英联邦大学协会、英日RENKEI的成员，拥有欧洲顶尖的医学院。此外，纽大也是英国拥有最多欧盟研究项目的大学之一。除在英国纽卡斯尔的本校区外，纽大还在亚洲分别设立了马来西亚校区和新加坡校区。

学校历史

纽卡斯尔大学

纽卡斯尔大学的历史可以追溯到1834年由纽卡斯尔城成立的医学院，提供当时在学的26名学生演讲以及手术实验课程。在1851年6月，该校分裂为两所敌对的学院。主要的学院成立了纽卡斯尔医学院(Newcastle College of Medicine)，而另一个学院则成立为泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔医学与实用科学学院(Newcastle upon Tyne College of Medicine and Practical Science)。

在1852年，纽卡斯尔医学院正式与杜伦联邦大学国王学院(King's College, The Federal University of Durham)结合，并在1856年授颁布第一个"医学证照"(Licence in Medicine: Lic. Med)，两所学院后来在1857年合并，并且在1870年重新命名为杜伦医学院(Durham College of Medicine)。

纽卡斯尔大学校园内有注册和获准的就餐场所提供服务，包括Uni cafe、The time out food court、The stop gap shop和公共休息室。

翻新的健康及健身中心有用于锻炼心血管系统的最新器材。中心有走跑机、空气阻力自行车、划船器、攀岩及有氧运动器材。还有锻炼灵活性、腹部运动和热身/放松的大垫子活动区。全职合格的人员提供运动指导、生活方式管理建议和锻炼技巧。伸展及肌肉锻炼(Stretch & Tone)中心有若干固定不动的Reebok锻炼自行车、背部锻炼器材、两个划船器、腹部运动器和一些轻型举重器材。

Claremont运动中心由两个现代化的运动大厅和四个壁球场地构成，它是大学羽毛球、篮球、室内足球、无档板篮球、壁球、蹦床和排球的主要运动场地。学生会商店备有多种文具和报纸，以及大量的家庭实用用品。商店内还有一个小邮局。商店还有一个理发店、印刷所、旅行社和一个二手书店。

除设备精良的工程和理科实验室外，大学还自豪地拥有获奖的图书馆和完备的校内计算机网络。语言中心和新的资料中心大大地为语言学习的各方面提供了帮助。

公交车

纽卡斯尔大学的学生主要乘坐Stagecoach公司的公交车，因为大多数开往学生公寓的公交都是他们公司经营的，包括离校园最远的学生公寓。

地铁

纽卡斯尔的地铁向北到达Gosforth, Kingston Park Airport, Whitley Bay, 向东经过Byker、North Shields到达Whitley Bay。纽卡斯尔市的地铁票价较贵，不过住在Bowsden Court公寓的学生如果经常使用地铁，可以得到一张学生地铁卡。

飞机

纽卡斯尔机场(Newcastle Airport;三字代码:NCL;四字代码:EGNT)是英国的第13个繁忙机场。在纽卡斯尔有很多国际线和欧洲线的航班，还有例如easyJet和Ryanair的低价航线。对国际学生来说，学校会在新生周之前和之中提供各类服务。

渡船

在市中心的东面有一个码头，有渡船开往北海港口通过DFDS到达挪威、瑞典、丹麦和荷兰。

长途汽车

纽卡斯尔有城际长途车，比如Megabus、National Express，大部分从苏格兰出发，经约克夏到伦敦。

公路网络

纽卡斯尔的南北两端通过A1公路方便连接。市内的停车点较少而且价格较高，学生大都不开车。

火车

纽卡斯尔中央火车站是英国东海岸主线和横越路线的主站，在1850年由维多利亚女王揭幕开业，是世界上第一个有建筑屋顶的火车站，火车站的设计仍被英国的其它火车站大量引用复刻，具有新古典主义外观。纽卡斯尔火车站每隔半个小时就有一班列车前往伦敦，运行时间约三个小时。
